How do I find my exact expiration date?

The Texas license timeline

90 days before expiration

Your renewal payment window opens, and TDI will not accept payment any earlier. Pay the renewal fee ($50 per license type) and confirm your CE shows complete in Sircon while you are in there.

30 days before expiration

Treat this as the real CE deadline. Providers can take time to report completions, and TDI cannot renew you until your hours actually show in Sircon. Your expiration date

Payment and CE compliance are both due by midnight Central Time. After midnight, your authority to transact ends.

1 to 90 days after expiration

The late renewal window. You can still renew, but the license is invalid the whole time, and selling during this period is transacting without a license. Complete the missing CE, pay the fines ($50 per deficient hour, capped at $500 per license), and renew. 91 days to 1 year after expiration

Renewal is no longer possible, but state law allows a new license without retaking the exam through a new application. Reapply promptly, and expect application fees and updated fingerprints as part of the process.

More than 1 year after expiration

The path back closes. New application, new exam, new fingerprints, from the beginning.

Why the 90-day late window is not a grace period

This is the most expensive misunderstanding in Texas licensing. The late window allows you to renew the license. It does not preserve your ability to work. From the moment your license expires, quoting, binding, servicing, and soliciting are all off the table until the renewal process. What has to be true before TDI will renew you

Two things, and both have to be visible to TDI, not just done:

• Your CE is complete and reported. Texas requires 24 hours per two-year term, including 3 hours of ethics, with at least half your hours in classroom or classroom-equivalent courses. Completing a course is not the same as it being reported; providers submit to Sircon on their own timeline, so finishing early is the only real insurance.
• Your renewal fee is paid. Inside the 90-day window, by midnight on your date.
